Tehran War Cemetery
Cmentarz Wojenny w Teheranie
Located in Gholhak Garden, within the residential compound of the British Embassy, Tehran War Cemetery is the final resting place of more than 500 soldiers who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars. Among those buried here are Polish soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces in the East, who passed through Iran in 1942 during their evacuation from the Soviet Union and their journey toward the war fronts.
Położony w ogrodzie Gholhak, na terenie kompleksu rezydencjalnego Ambasady Brytyjskiej, Teherański Cmentarz Wojenny jest miejscem spoczynku ponad 500 żołnierzy poległych podczas I i II wojny światowej. Wśród pochowanych znajdują się również polscy żołnierze Polskich Sił Zbrojnych na Wschodzie, którzy w 1942 roku przeszli przez Iran podczas ewakuacji ze Związku Radzieckiego i dalszej drogi na fronty wojny.
The cemetery also includes the Tehran Memorial, dedicated to servicemen who have no known grave. The site is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Na terenie cmentarza znajduje się również Memoriał Teherański, poświęcony żołnierzom, których miejsce pochówku pozostaje nieznane. Cmentarz jest utrzymywany przez Komisję Grobów Wojennych Wspólnoty Narodów.
